There is one thing for sure. Paypal always favor buyers and if he open a dispute then there is 70% chance of winning him. But since you have mentioned that you got the payment in your bank account and close your paypal, I dont think it should cause you anymore problem. You are safe.
Also just provide the necessary information towards the dispute raised by your purchaser/ thats it.

I don't think they can pull money out of your bank account :)
I think you are safe, but if amount is real big. They may try to contact you for money.

Is this question just hypothetical or is it from your personal experience?

If the situation is indeed real, closing a paypal account after receiving the sum appears a bit weird and smacks of some fraud.
Is the money involved really huge? If it is, be assured that paypal will contact you through their local office.
As regards accessing your bank account, NO....they cannot directly withdraw from your bank account.

    Regards,

Thats not always the case. My dad had a legit PayPal account with his bank and credit card linked up. He bought a PS3 on eBid and he got scammed because it never arrived. We opened a Paypal dispute and won, but the guy was clever and took all the money out from his PayPal account, so all my dad got was £1.21 out of £250!

So my dad did a chargeback and then PayPal said my dad cant have his money back because they already partially refunded him £1.21. The bank agreed with PayPal because my dads gay bank Barclays has a policy that if you have already recieved a partial refund of any amount, you are not entitled to a chargeback.

So my dad is £248.79 out of pocket!

This just goes to show you that PayPal and banks are clever!

    So watchout!
