It mainly depends on the type of activity you do online and how much money you foresee to urgently need at a time.

I do not think majority of the people would be keeping more than $ 500 anyway...since PP does not give you interest on your balance amount...:(

If you do intend to use it in the near future, you can keep as much as you want. But if it is going to just remain idle there, it is better to transfer it to any of your savings account with an Indian Bank which would at least fetch you around 3% interest!

3 % is for a regular savings account and it is around 8 % for a fixed tenure Bank deposit of one year.

Btw....which country do you belong? as 8-10% is too good for a savings bank account. Perhaps, we might get an alternative for our investments!

There is no "safe amount" to have in your PayPal account, but it is always good to make sure your account is confirmed and verified to protect it in the future.

U can keep any amt of money , but if ur PP goes limited , than ur gone , u will need many docs to verify it again , which is a big head ache.

better keep 500 max , i'll even say less than 100

Exactly the reason why people prefer to keep as lesser amount as possible. There is anyway no intensive to keep more money with such a risk attached, since it does not bring you any additional revenue... :(

It would always be good to keep your paypal balance near to 50$ , If at all they ban you for any reason at all the loss would not exceed 50$.

To be safe, one should not keep this amount in PayPal. I would consider keeping $100 maximum.

The amount you'd want to keep would be the amount you intend to spend then.

You could always fund your purchases with a credit card if there is insufficient balance.

There are no "safe amounts" as I've already said earlier in the thread and the suggestions of keeping no more than "X amount" don't really make sense. PayPal isn't going to steal your money and the only smaller risks that you have are your account being compromised or your account being limited for an assortment of reasons. If you used your correct personal information when you signed up, then you have nothing to worry about if such an incident were to occur.

    Keep it less than 1k
Anyway, paypal protects us a lot, so no chance to have them stolen because paypal will give them back to you in minutes

in my opinion dont trust paypal. u dont know wen it would limit ur account. and their answers will be simply UNUSUAL ACCOUNT ACTIVITY and nothing more than that. they get greedy wen they see large amounts and lock it for some time to see how do u react to it. if u seem to be non-repsonsive. voila. then tahts it, anfter 180 days, ur account will be banned and ull get a message that ur account was locked with 2000$ balance. if u ask abt it, theyw ould say that they have donated to many known trust. huh
