I'm getting ready to set up an eCommerce site and intend to use PayPal. This thread concerns me. As the merchant wouldn't it be up to you to issue refunds and not PayPal. I thought PayPal would be the payment processor and nothing more. Can anybody explain this to me?

Hello, you can try Moneybookers or Alertpay. It's free to register and doesn't have high fees like Paypal.

I'd call PayPal and figure out what's wrong. PayPal's one of the best ways to do e-commerce so try to stick with it if you can. I've never used any other check out system except PayPal but I've heard that AlertPay is alright.

Paypal is best but still there are some alternatives to it.
    Like Moneybookers, Alertpay, Liberty Reserve

Why is PayPal the best? Because everyone knows about it? Because it has the same 2.9% rate as Google Checkout and Amazon? What about Authorize.net? It's 10 cents per transaction. Yeah, there's no gateway, but there are some free gateways out there. Why not use Authorize.net?

Google check out is a good one but Authorize.net is head and shoulders above the rest. They already have documentation out there on integrating it with the OsCommerce system.
