Hi Everyone, Has anyone ever had their Paypal account access limited because they accessed it from two different IP addresses, within a few hours of each other, I believe that is why my account was limited today. Now I have to go through the process of changing email addresses, usernames, security questions, and also send them a fax of a utility bill, which I don't have because where I live is in my parents name, is there anything else I can use instead of a utility bill? Cheers, Adultuserbars.
Call them and see what other forms of verification you can use. I'm sure there are other things that they will accept for people who don't have any utility service in their own name.
I ran into the same problem. It's been over 30 days, and I still can't get into my account. They don't tell me anything since they are still "reviewing" my case. All I did was send money from my business account to my free account, which I do all the time when I develop sites using IPN. I don't know why this time it was suspicious.
Caution: Before you assume your account has been limited, check the headers and links in that email very carefully. This is one of the newer PayPal phishing scams.
I sent them, an email so I'm awaiting their response, I probably won't receive one for a few weeks. Maybe I'll just send them a copy of my bank statement and hiding the transaction details. Hopefully that will keep them quiet, and reactivate my account. I checked my account, and it really is limited.
Are the two IPs from the same state or country ? If they are near each other, it should not be an issue because people do access their Paypal account from Home and Work. However, one access from Europe and the next in Asia within a few hours may not be physically possible. Personally, I would think that it is something else the matter. Have they contacted you about why you are getting the limited access ?
It happens ...also happened to my account..but sorry to say paypal help is too f**k**g they never do any contact in days but do e-mail for information required in months...
I heard it once from my friend . When my friend tried to access his paypal from another place it got blocked ! I think u have to contact them to remove the problem.
I don't think its because of IP issue, because we're accessing our account from different country and haven't got any problem. Hopefully you could sort it out soon. Cheers!
It is an IP issue, they believe it was accessed by a third party. All I did was access from home in the morning, they I went to uni and checked it again 2-3hours later. Then about an hour or so later, they sent me an email saying my account had been limited. I would like to know, is it best to call them to solve the problem (or will they still want the same details) or just send them the required details? How long does it typically take for them to take the limitations off my account once I have satisfied them BTW, I'm from Australia. My 300th Post - WooHoo!
Get your account verified if you have not done so. Whether you call them or not, they will still inevitably require you to send them documentations to substantiate your claims. Where you doing anything in your paypal account when you log in during the two times ? Meantime, just email them if you have not done so. They seems to be more suspicious of unverified accounts. I log in using different IPs and never had any issues.
Ah okay. Sometimes Paypal may limited the account if a payment comes in from a suspicious source or that the amount is higher than what you would normally receive. A new account with transaction sizes of $10 to $50 may not be suspicious but if you get transactions like a few hundreds or a few thousand dollars, it may raise a red flag. All they do is not to protect their customers, prevent unacceptable sale of goods and services and also to prevent money laundering. Once they received the required documentations, it can take anywhere between 24 hours to several weeks to get your account unlocked depending on the level of investigation they need to go through. It may help if you could fax them your student ID with your University name in there so they can note that you will be accessing it through the Uni Computers.
I just faxed them the details they wanted, so we'll see how long it takes them to 'investigate' and then reinstate full control. Its just a pain in the ass, when I have outstanding payments to make.
No. My account is being accesses from about 15+ IPs a day. It hasnt been limited ever. Though its a business account, may be due to that
Thanks for your comments everyone. I submitted the required details as they requested, and they have restored my account with all funds in it. Much quicker then I expected. Thanks for your comments everyone. Note: A moderator may lock this now.
