At the start of the year around January I received the EU limitation on my account after receiving funds in excess of £1,900, so I submitted multiple legal documentation against this appeal only to have it denied on the basis of it not matching the name on the beholder of the account, I looked into this and found out that a mistake had been made on my behalf upon sign up where I had accidentally entered my username where my legal birth name should have been, I changed this with my passport which had recently been renewed enabling me to successfully appeal the name change and rectify the mistake that had been made upon the first initial registration of the account as this needed to be done so that I could successfully appeal against the EU limitation on my account. The problem now is during the period where I was appealing against the EU limitation where my name did not match with the name mistakenly registered on my profile I received the ‘This Limitation cannot be appealed against’ Email I believe this due to the name and the documentation I was submitting and believe this was seen as suspicious activity by Paypal. Yesterday afternoon I contacted customer support via the support line and was passed on to a member of staff in the ‘Limitations’ department, I discussed with them the current status of my account and they took a look and reviewed my details and said that everything was fine and that the newly submitted documentation I had uploaded had been reviewed and was absolutely fine, this member of staff did not say anything more on the status of my account nor did they mention any further problems, at the end of the call the member of staff said they will remove the EU limitation on my account within the next 10–15 minuets. Now I am not sure if the EU limitation had been removed or not as the status on my account is still in ‘Holding’ and I am still unable to withdraw any money or use Paypal as a method of payment. What I believe happened here was that the EU limitation was actually removed but the other ‘holding’ limitation was not making the whole point of the EU limitation appeal absolutely pointless as I now have viable proof of Name, Address and Identification and I know that Paypal now knows this due to the removal of the EU limitation. What I wish to know now is details on the current status of my account and why it is still in ‘Holding’ if all my Identification was considered as legitimate and accepted in the case against the EU limitation when on the phone to the limitation department. I was not given a legitimate reason as to why my account was given this alternate limitation in addition to the EU limitation, I can think of no other reason than due mistake on my behalf upon registration but if this is the case this mistake has been taken on board and now rectified so I see no reason why my account should still be in ‘Holding’. All of my transactions are from legitimate trusted sites and should not have been considered as suspicious. Are there any suggestions at all on any further steps i can take in the matter such as seeking legal action? letter of complaint? or is it just a case of wait for this email saying i can now withdraw all my money into my Natwest Bank account? If i make another alternate account will it be closed too? or is it just basically over for me and my £2,500? Any information at all would be greatly appreciated on this matter or anybody who has experienced a similar thing the main thing i wish to know more about is the 180 days policy and if there is a way round creating an alternative account without risk of it being taken down? I appreciate any help at all in this matter as i have been without this money for 6 months now and it's extremely inconvenient
Nowhere in the mail does it mention anything about my money becoming available after 180 days, it just says until i've completed the appeal steps which i have done by submitting my Valid UK Passport and my Bank Statement which they used to lift the EU appeal but not the freezing of my account? Hi Joe, Too much detail on the thread , that I couldn't read , but from what I understand is that your problem is not resolved for many days if I'm correct. I would recommend you to contact their twitter support & they will help you very quickly to resolve this. Because I had few problems with my PAN number & my account profile 3 - 4 years back & I solved it within 2 - 3 days through their Twitter support https://twitter.com/askpaypal
Sorry about the detail I just really wanted some advise on my current situation and several months i've not had access to my funds Thank you for that suggestion, I will give it a go and see what happens
Joe you get your money back after 3 months. They don't keep the money and if you have specified Bank or Card to withdraw then they will send the money to those sources. But you need to contact PayPal.
I contacted Paypal again on the phone and the guy told me if i made another Paypal account and called back up then he would transfer all of my funds to the alternate account, sounds promising i guess but i'm not too hopeful
I'm pretty sure it will automatically limit when the £2'500 is transferred due to the EU regulation but as long as it doesn't get frozen then that would be great
