Paypal Account downgrade

    Hi, I have a Premier verfied Paypal account and mostly accept Paypal funds (not Credit Card) from which a certain percentage is deducted everytime.
    I need to know that if I downgrade my account to a verfied personal account (where no amount is deducted to receive / transfer money from Paypal) will my sending / receiving limit be reduced ?
    I have tried searching the whole Paypal site for an answer but no luck.
    Today I have written to Paypal asking them the same question but I don't expect them to reply soon so I thought of asking you guys if you'll know anything.

    You can't downgrade your account all you can really do is close it and open a new one..

    No I was told by Paypal customer care ( but they did not respond to my query in totality ) and I read it somewhere on their site that you can downgrade your account - but only once and then if you change your mind later, I guess like you said close the account :)

    You can downgrade an account.

    Go to
    Help ->
    Contact Us ->
    [Help by Email] Contact Customer Service ->
    [Select] My Account Profile ->
    [Select] Downgrade Account in subtopic ->
    Let them know that you want to downgrade and why.

    On one of my accounts, the downgrade subtopic is available on another it's not. Not exactly sure why, but hopefully you will have the option.

    I have done this before, its mentioned in their TOS that you can downgrade only once.

    So after going from premier/biz you can go to personal but if you then decide to upgrade your a/c , it will not be possible for you to downgrade again!

    I am really not aware of limits in un-verified accounts, i've always had my account verified right from the start.

    The only limit is for withdrawals which is $2.5k /m and sending funds is uncapped.

    If you have just one PayPal account , you can get a another one.
    You can have 1 Premier/Business & a Personal account.
    So, accept all PayPal fund payments in your Personal account & Credit Card payments in your Premier/Business account.
    That is what I do :)

    I would reccomend opening anohter account, like ishan said. There will always be customers who have to pay with a CC or debit, and you can only accept 5 of those without having to upgrade...

    I have downgraded my account before. PayPal support team is really nice about it, but they don't want you doing it more than once. :)

    It won't limit shit if you're verified. :)

    If you basically only accept payment via the Email Send method then there is no limits in the receiving of emails. If you however using the Merchant Services such as the Buy Now button, Subscription or the Invoicing Method then there is a limit of US$500/month.

    Oh yes eddy, that could also be one of the reason for 'limits'

    :)

    Yes, I believe the reasons for the limits is that a Personal account should be one which is for personal usage and not for business. A typical person don't sell things on a regular basis so the $500/monthly limits using the merchant services is fair.

    PayPal wont allow you to sell items with personal accounts. It IS a profitable company. So, it deducts its commission.
