Any services out there that allow payment for goods through a simple SMS/phone call instead of PayPal etc.

I have seen them on some big gaming sites like RuneScape for membership.

It's called SMS billing. It's very expensive, anywhere from 50% and up, and usually you can't bill more than $5 or $10 per customer per month. If you search on google for SMS billing, you'll find a bunch of companies that offer it.

Wow losing 50% of the price, that is crazy!

    Any recommendations?

Any way I can get 10% rate instead of 50%?

Not very easily, you'd probably have to be doing an insane amount of volume, as Runescape likely does, and even then 10% would be extremely unlikely.

Yep... It's called SMS billing. Let me know if you can find anyone that only takes a small cut please, Drake.

Why fees so high? Risk of fraud reversals from SMS? 50% for a transfer fee is ridiculous

I think fees are generally high because carriers charge a lot for the contracts (and numbers). If I remember reading somewhere...those special numbers (EX: 90909) cost 100k+

They are mighty expensive that's why you haven't seen alot of companies use them yet, unless you're making 100% profit and even then there fees are ridiculous, but wait some time and sooner or later there fees will drop and more businesses will begin to integrate them into there website.

SMS billing is very common in paying bills even receiving payment or remittances. I am not just so sure how much is the fee though.

I have used before www.Liqpay.com because I am right now in Ukraine, L;viv for a private visit. It charges a commission fee for any transaction - $0,5 + 0,5%+1%@ATM it works via SMS. You might want to read at the site how it works since I am using a friend;s account and he cashes out to give me the cash when it happens :) but its ten thousand times better than 50% for sure. If you don;t have option to use Paypal, I think this is more convenient than the one described above.

Does "paypal SMS" take money from your phone bill/credit or does it just use sms interface to just move money from your paypal account (or card/bank registered on that account) to another account?

Also, same with Liqpay. Does it actually take money from your phone bill/credit?

BTW - revived this thread, sorry!
