I have been using Paypal with my customers in the United States. Now I have a customer based in Germany and Paypal does not extend their services there. Can anyone recommend a payment service for my German customer?

I've used both CardService International and charge.com without any problems...

Here's a site that compares a bunch of them... check out the different fees and whatnot.

    Good luck!

i agree with 2ndPlatform.... CSI (Card Service International) or charge.com are great services that i have used and have not had a problem with. If you are using an opensource software like oscommerce to run your site, even better as they can easily be integrated by means of their free add on modules.

    :)

I'm not too sure whether using paypal is a good option. Certainly, I have come across a few nightmare stories about them freezing accounts. Try doing a search on google. If you need to look for other merchant account, you can download this free mechant account buyer's guide from cardservice:

    merchant account guide

(it has my affiliate link but the guide is free anyway)

    Folks,

As a reputable business owner for over 25 years, I expected better when I setup an account with Yowcow.

It takes a major research project to find their street address in Cincinatti, OH, their toll-free number is a fax, and you don't get the toll number in the US without joining.

They are very unresponsive and I am about to file complaints with numerous government agencies.

It appears that the buyer and I will have to work together to expose their actions.

2Checkout.com and IKobo.com are often recommended. I have account with both, and while they do not work error-free IMHO, I am happy with them given the options that I came around so far.

Thank you all for your suggestions. I do not need a merchant account since content is what I sell. Thusfar, Paypal has worked well for me for those I write for on an ongoing basis. For those coountries not serviced by this company, it appears that Western Union will do the job and I will not have to sign up with them or pay any exhorbitant fees. :)

if you are in the United States, a merchant account is usually a lot better in the long run when you start to process over $1,000 a month. Western Union though is good - pricey for the sender - but at least when you get the money, no chargebacks.

No chargebacks sounds great to me. :) The sender was the one who made the suggestion of Western Union.

Western union. No cost to you, no chargebacks. I always require money order when buyer is outside U.S. and Canada.

I used WU several times. And as I was the one who sent money I had to pay huge fees for the greedy WU guys :D
So to my mind WU is a good choice if you plan to send money once or twice… but using them for a long time is too pricey.

Moneybookers.com - They're a German company themselves and you can expect minimal verification hassles and transaction fees.

Although they (moneybookers) serve internationally but conspicuously PayPal is far more superior than any other Payment processors available.

And don’t Moneybookers require buyers’ documents when processing their credit cards? I read some merchants were complaining about it.
