Payment Processing for Under 18s?

I have a forum where most of my members are under 18. Many of them want to donate to the forums but since they cant get credit cards due to their age, they cant do so.

I would allow direct debit but most of my visitors are in America, and I cant cant open an American bank account because im Australian.

Anyone know of any good methods for under 18's to send money to me?

Egold does not require any age verification so it's the payment processor of choice.

Hi! You can get a VMI card. It can be loaded by direct debit. It works like a US checkings account and you get a routingnumber with it and your unique bank account number. You can contact me if there are any questions, would be a pleasure to help you.

    regards

Bryce, this situation does suck hey? My site is populated mostly by 15-17 year olds too. The positive is if we treat them right, they'll become generous 18-20 year olds. :)

I use bank transfers, though most of the userbase is Australian

Does it require a credit card though? The problem isnt so much the age, but the ability to get a credit card.
14-18-ish. Enough to have a job and have money, but not old enough to get a credit card.

Ahh, a fellow Melbourne-ite. I have the bank transfer option available to them as well. However, most of my userbase is American. I do have an American staff member I trust for direct debits. However, its still a pretty lame and un-automated way to go out things :(

I am really considering getting or developing a "pay by mobile phone" hack for Vbulletin in the same way people subscribe to ringtones.

They will give you a credit card at any age, legally you must be 18 though. I got a credit card when I was 10 to start building my credit early.

They should be able to get a credit card in their name as long as a parent signs for it. I have one and I'm still 17. In truth, it is a really good idea to get one and make a little charge each month to make sure that you build up a good credit history early. The reality of the situation would probably support pay by mobile though. Just about everyone has a cell phone that can text message, even if it's just being run through their parent's bill.

Western Union is pretty pointless unless they're donating a lot. Egold is doable, but it's not convenient, I don't think it's easy to get money on egold without a credit card and verification aswell.

If they definitely can't do Paypal, Bank Transfer might be an option. I'm not 100% sure if it works in the states, but I can send money from my UK bank account, and I can accept the charges, pass the charges onto the receiver or split them half and half.
