Payment processing for a wine shop

I would like to start a shop that would sell delicacies, olives, olive oil, chocolates etc and also wines. 2checkout doesn't accept businesses that sell alcoholic beverages. I have received an e-mail from moneybookers in which they stated the same (although their website doesnt say so)
Can you tell me which payment service/gateway/processor to use that would accept such a shop, considering I am not going to pay hundreds of dollars for setup fees?
    Thank you

You could check with chronopay, I think they might accept such business, but I am not quite sure.

Have you got Paypal's word about this matter?
They might be a good option to consider.

Alcoholic Breverages is a sticky issue because different states and countries have different regulation as to the selling of such items, typically towards the underaged and all that. There may be the issue of export and import duties and other restrictions.

I just visited some online wine shop and it looks like they are using their own merchant accounts to handle the sales. I guess it would probably going to cost you a bundle if you decide to go this road. Just bring your business license, alcohol license and go down to your bank and see what they can do for you.

    thanks for the replies.
You wouldnt believe how much the banks charge for such things over here in Croatia. After at least 500US$ setup fee, they charge aroub 200 US$ a month... plus transaction fees... I am sure I would never had that much sales to cover that, among other expenses.
Anyways, why would they care if the wine is payed through their service since it is not them who is selling it, but me.
By the way, wine and beer is qualified as food here in Croatia not to be taxable by VAT.

Well, the thing is that if you use a US-based Payment Processor and you will be subjected to their laws. Yes, you are in a fortunate situation where alcohol is not taxable. It is not so in a number of countries.

Perhaps if possible, you could start off your business without the alcohol sales first then at least that should get you some income while you look for a solution to your alcohol sales issue.

    now I see that.
However, PayPal doesnt accept sellers from Croatia yet so no use of them.
it seems like moneybookers are my only hope... except their support also said they dont accept such businesses...although their website doesnt say so.
I think I will just sell wines on another website and accept payments by bank wire transfer.

    Hello,

How did you manage to sell wine online ?

I wonder how other merchants do !

And people selling pills or other prohibited products by most of the processors, how do they do ?

    Thanks.
