G'day All I currently manage a free job website, and as part of a site redevelopment, I am looking to introduce a service, where advertisers can purchase a "Premium Listing" that gives their ad increased exposure. So I need to introduce a payment facility. I contacted my current bank and they told me that I would need my own gateway, however there charges were going to be a $99 Set up fee, $29.95 Annual Fee, $29 Minimum Monthly fee, $250 Exit fee, and on top of this, a Merchant Service fee of about 4% per transaction. If I am looking to accept payments by Credit Card, what alternatives do I have? I have used Paypal before, but not everyone has a Paypal account, and logging in can become a bit of a pain. I want a service that is not only secure, but simple. Is there anything out there for me, or am I dreaming?
Have you considered BPay and Bank Deposit as payment options? BPay is widely used, and is very cheap. It only costs about 50cents per transaction, and there are no set up and monthly fees involved. Pretty much all the banks offer BPay. Your customers do not need to sign up or to have an account with PayPal in order to make a payment. They can just type in their details, submit the payment, and get redirected back to your website. Paymate is an Aussie alternative to PayPal. It is more expensive but has a lot better security (3 times less chargebacks). I would advise against a merchant account facility unless you are going to be turning over say at least 75k a year. The fees the banks charge are just too high. There is a big difference in the fees the banks charge (i've found BankWest to be the cheapest for the first $75k), but nonetheless they are still very expensive.
what is Bpay, can u link me to the site, and i will check and try to get one account for my online business too.
