Hey Guys, I am going to need Payment gateway for my next web project. Any of you could help me out with picking the right one i would appreciate. Thanks
Nothing really beats Paypal at this time just from an anti-fraud standpoint. If you need an alternative you can try 2co.com but it's a bit pricey. You could integrate your own gateway via Authorize net with your own merchant account but you open yourself up to chargebacks and those are not fun to deal with. So again, my recommendation is stick with Paypal, they do it all.
You mean this one Website Payments Pro. $30 monthly fee No downgrade fees No gateway fee No early termination penalty No monthly minimum No statement fees $0 to $3,000* 2.9% + $0.30 $3.20 fee on a $100 sale
That's Paypal's merchant account. It's a really good service. But why not just take payments from people who have Paypal accounts that's the easiest. If you don't mind what are you selling online?
Nah PayPal redirects a user to their own site and this i would like to avoid as it is not professional. Subscriptions based service, no real merchandise so all virtual sales.
I use Paypal and is accepted in nearly all countries across the globe. Also, if you check all the online store scripts, you will find Paypal is always the one payment processor that's offered with a variety of others. Neil
Ya, but that redirect is well accepted. It's not considered unprofessional. In fact I would say it's a sign of trust. I am much less likely to put my credit card information in these days then my Paypal email address. One more point if your going to use you own merchant account then you have issues with becoming PCI compliant (yeah Google that) and you open yourself up to other forms of liability. Have you ever dealt with a chargeback? Well if you haven't you should know that they pull money instantly when there is a complaint. The burden of proof is on your hands. Also lots of paperwork to fill out. Paypal doesn't operate that way.
I disagree on the chargeback vs. Paypal. Paypal offers a customer 2 chances for a dispute, once directly with paypal, and if the customer loses, they can make another with their issuer. Additionally, Paypal offers zero protection for digital goods, whereas a merchant account can win chargebacks on digital products depending on the reason code.
Authorize.net - if you are looking for full control and quick turn around on your money (not to mention better processing rates) you need to go with a real merchant account. Contact PowerPay and get an account setup, depending on your financials they can likely get you processing 50k a month out of the gate. You are in full control with this kind of setup, Paypal and the others are slow and expensive.
Agree with the previous poster about getting a real merchant account. Many merchants start off with PayPal and then encounter issues with their account being frozen or shut down because they don't have a fully underwritten merchant account. Authorize.net is a good solution for a web business that provides a merchant account. Braintree does as well, and has great APIs.
I am not sure how you come up with Paypal is slow? If someone pays via Paypal you get almost instant access to your money. There is simply no merchant account that can compare to that and most take 2 to 3 or sometimes longer to process your batch. Moreover, the "non-qualified" rate on Merchant accounts can be close to 5% because everyone uses Airline Miles and Reward cards today. Yeah they tease you with a 2.19% qualified rate + transaction fees, but it's a gimmick. And I got news for you, more then half your transactions will be the "non-qualified" rate.
