Do you need to pay taxes on revenue made through ads and affiliate comisson? What about being paid through paypal for design services?
Sounds like you should talk to an accountant... but yes. Pretty much anywhere you are in the world, you make money... you gotta pay the man.
In the US, you pay twice. You pay the tax on the income.....and you pay a 15% "self-employment" tax on the same income. I always paid on the income but this was news to me when I started getting tax bills for every single year. My latest bill that came this week is from 2007 for over $250. Make sure your accountant knows about this! The second you put an ad (like Adsense) on a site, you have become self-employed.
How much or if you have to pay any taxes at all depends on the country you live. The tax laws vary by country and there may also be additional taxes you have to pay depending on the state/province or city you live in. If you are making a sizable amount of money online you should defintely talk to an accoutant.
yes.. you pay self-employment tax and regular income tax on it.. then you get to deduct a lot of expenses.. for me, I deduct my webhosting.. home office.. part of the utility... ISP fees...
Would this be something I can do myself, or will I need to use a tax service? So I can deduct my expenses and pay less taxes?
Im not from US but in the UK you can get any tax you have paid back on goods related to you business. For example a window cleaner could claim the tax back on his ladder
