    Im currently Top of page 2 in google for the main keyword.

    (if u see a drop is because i just made some minor layout changes).

    With 88 000 000 pages it is going to be a bit time consuming. Getting in top 5 is quiiiiite different from getting from a 100th to the 2nd page.

    It should be quite possible I think your site is not that faraway. I would suggest just using the money you would spend on seo on buying some authority links from related websites. I would also suggest nofollowing some of your blogroll links.

    I do not think you need t hire an SEO if it is coming in top 10.Just do some directory submission and keep posting in forums with your site link as signature.Also exchange links with theme related websites.

    That will work.
