Paying for for my site to be submitted to directories,

I have been considering paying for directory submissions but have a few questions before I do. How do companies offering directory submission get my submissions by Captcha (the code that needs to be typed in to show that the person doing the submissions is human}? I also want to know if my submissions have been sent. Some directories require payment or a receptacle link How do submission companies handle that

I second that question. Besides, I came across this guy lately that opined submitting to spammy free directories could affect a site's SERPS in a negative way and that this could also make harder for the site to gain PR in the long run. No idea how far it's true though!

If you are paying for directory submissions then its better to go with a service that really is done by hand.

That way the captcha is not an issue, a real human will enter the code.

You need to talk to someone offering the service, they differ, many will bull**** you but you just use your common sense, like 1000 submissions done in 2 days $35, sound like it will benefit you? Of course it wont.

If you're going to pay someone to submit for you then you should find out what type of reporting they give you. What directories do they submit to? Do they give you a list of every submission with the keywords and descriptions they use? Do they track your submissions and let you know when links have been approved or found in Yahoo? Do they have any track record for other clients that they'll let you see. If all they promise is directory submissions with no reporting then you'll probably be wasting your money. A good SEO person will know which directories will benefit your site and have experience and reporting to back it up.

How much budget you have ? submission comapnies have good resource of people who manually submit their sites to tons of directories, anyways a good suggestion & help for you to select quality directory is "always check the directory for dropped domain scam" before submitting your website (s)

I have submitted to probably thousands of directories, and every single time I did the submitting myself. It's not rocket science. Why would you want or need to farm out the submission process? If you "don't have the time", perhaps you are in the wrong business trying to run a successful website(s).

One friend of mine paid for submission into directories. The result was that his site was listed there in a day, but all directories were on the same IP address. It's nothing but spam.

free directory submissions is a waste of time, i have seen hundreds of free directories, all info domains, mostly dropped with some pr, all running on the same database  they list all kinds of sites, adult, mfa and worse...

if you are really considering to pay, why not go for some quality paid directories, they will give you a quick review and the listing will be valuable too,

It's always better to focus on quality directories that are manually reviewed by an editor. These would include:

    Yahoo Directory
    BOTW
    Business.com

Matt Cutts discusses the difference between quality directories here:

Be wary of site submission service company.

Bad submision company will submit to any directories, free or paid or niche whether it relates to your site or not, they will just submit. You will get an automatic reply from the directory script telling you that your site has been rejected.

    Reason:
    Wrong category
A paid directory and dint pay
    Not related to site (Niche)

Those guys don't care where they submit, they have a software that makes it really easy to do hundreds of submissions in a matter of minutes. If you were offered 100 submissions for $5, then minus one from my directory, because I can tell that it was them that submitted it. (Very sloppy and unprofessional)

There are a few good submission company out there, you'll need to investigate to see which are the good ones, I cannot recommend as it would not sound right.

If you can find a submission company to pay them after you get the result, then that is the best offer, if not you'll get screwed.

They manually type that part...they hate captcha's and registration. (spam reducer)

You provide them your email, and that is what the email address that will be use for the submission process.

    They ignore it.
