I would like to know which are the directories that worth paying for listing? I know yahoo directory. Any other good directory? Thanks Marius
Well the Yahoo directory is worth it for a backlink http://dir.yahoo.com/ If you don't mind paying $299 per year.
There are hundreds, but it depends what your looking for? Aim for geographic directories relating to your site. eg, daft example, listing yourself in a Norwegian Directory doesn't make much sense for a Indian based business. Yahoo is definately worth it.
I'm only interested in USA business/directories. I found an yahoo page rank 4 inside their directory where I can submit my website if i'm paying 300 usd. Do you think it worth?
we were always advised to list in yahoo, as google uses yahoo and dmoz as references, so can help with indexing. I assume this still to be true, but no doubt there will be mixed feelings on this!
personally I prefer to spend the money on adword, rather than paid directories. No guarantee for traffic from directories, however with adword, or other paid marketing methods, you will at least get some visitors, and if you site is good, you just made a customer for a long time. personal reference.
Here is a list of quality directories...many of them are operated from North America. These are directories that accept quality websites only and actually adheres to their submission guidelines. Hope this helps!
My question is: why would you wanna pay for inclusion if there is bunch of directories which will give you solid backlink for FREE? fastreplies
Id rather have 1 quality backlink then 100 poor backlinks. that's why someone would pay for an inclusion if the backlink had a lot of strength.
don't pay buddy... use free link directories or if you really wanna pay, you can find someone to send your link to free directories..
Research the directories in your site's niche. You'll get much more impact for your efforts. Almost every niche has directories both free and paid. If you want to invest in paid advertising, I would approach bloggers and other sites in your niche and see how much exposure you could gain with that $100 investment.
i would say yahoo, botw and any directory specific to your niche and of course THE PR4 directories that i own .
It's cuz 1) most free directories eventually become paid directories 2) most free directories aint worth it cuz they let you use any anchor text and barely adhere to a set of guidelines. 3) most free directories are "bad neighborhoods" cuz they list more than most of the sites that are submitted to em. 4) many free directories are left abandoned by their owners who find it hard to review to and include 2000+ "pending sites" 5) most free directories lack investment and end up lacking quality too. this list goes on... However, there are exceptions and I have lot of respect for owners of quality free directories because they are only a countable few
Well, that is why I said solid backlink Backlinks from Directories you're talking about will give you links without any juice fastreplies
There are a lot of good directories out there. The problem is that there are thousands of crap directories out there too. You have to find a way to weed through them. Look for directories in your niche first. Then branch out to the general directories. Try to focus on directories that are indexed in Google and preferably come up for some of the text in their pages. It doesn't matter if the listing is free or paid if Google ranks the page high in the SERPs.
i saw some thread giving a free list directories. i prefer to choose free directories to increase the traffic
