Yes, they want you to pay upfront. Before anything, you do have a YSM coupon, don't you? The denominations change from week to week, but they range from $75 to $100. That'll give you at least $75 of free advertising. Look in these forums or search on the web...

HOWEVER, even if you have a coupon, they want you to fork over some of your own money. I think the minimum is something like $25-30. Don't know the reasoning behind this, but that's the way it is.

This would be equivalent to your monthly budget. But you can ask them to charge less by selecting lesser amount. I was able to select $5 instead of XXX amount. So give it a try. Minimum they require is $5 only. Hope this helps.

I set mine to $300 for my first yahoo test. What if I stop it or don't use Yahoo anymore, will I get that money back?

Does the coupon count as paying upfront?

robotic - check with your rep, they can tell you if you will receive a credit back. ysm has been good to me so i don't worry about not using the account anymore. hopefully you will have the same result. charge enough up-front to run through 2 - 4 weeks of ads. that should keep you safe.

Coupon does count towards your balance, but does not count towards your initial application processing fee of $5. So you have to pay at least this amount upfront!
