A few days ago, Delhi Government in India has finalised amendments to two municipal acts, which would enable the authorities to levy a tax on domestic pets such as cats and dogs. http://www.rediff.com/money/2008/jan/24tax.htm The law would entitle them to levy a tax of Rs. 500 a year. Now as far as I know, government levy taxes to provide public services. What kind of services are they going to provide for domestic pets? Is there any kind of tax on domestic pets in your country/region?
