I have seen in some places guys getting they lost their PR down to 0 because they were doing Pay Per Post type review stuff. Is this true ? Plz share your experience and opinion about this. .
I have heard something similar, but can't confirm it. It makes sense that paid reviews shouldn't be rewarded, but...just about any blogger is writing for money, so i don't understand the difference, unless it is about the paid back link from the article to the sponsor....that would be selling links.
That's what I thought too. Maybe using nofollow link would make Google Happy. But I don't think whoever pay for the review would be happy. .
I can confirm it. I posted one Paid posting and my TV site dropped to 1 from a 4. I had to remove the post then file to have my site reevaluated. For many people it won't matter - PR is only important for ad purposes and some link trades.
Loosing PR is one thing does it effect serp too ? But since Google ban this because of PR Juace what if we use with nofollow links ?
Even I have heard about this kind of an incident. I guess that Google senses the code that Pay Per Post guys provide as a snippet. And when Google sees the code, it assumes that the site/blog is into paid reviews and related stuff. And hence it penalizes by decreasing the PR. I agree with hmansfield views on paid reviews but also feel that this is unfair because a person who say has just added 2 reviews and a person who is a regular writer for PPP are penalized equally. I feel Google should detect who is really adding value to the community and who is spamming.
Not sure if this is true in all cases, but yes, I have also read cases of PR dropping. I think it would depend on how much authority your site has, and how much you have abused it with worthless PPP posts. These type of posts sure do not help your ranking any, that is for sure- unless you are a master at spinning product endorsements into linkbait- in which case you probably are not wasting your time on 3$ a post writing.
Yes, it is absolutely true. Getting paid to post will leave your site with a PR at a big fat ZERO That said, I have one site that I still do paid posting. I have made over $1600 since I started a year ago. http://www.learntoearn101.net/2009/04/wondering-about-my-ot-posts.html
Honestly, I don't think so! PR is independent of your site's content. Your site's traffic however is! PR depends on number of backlinks and all those stuffs. So why your paid post bother your PR! Your site's traffic sure will degrade as you won't rank for your keywords as there won't be any posts! Had PR been dependent on traffic, how come many sites with less traffic have high PR and sites with low PR have high traffic. So my conclusion, it doesn't!
Makes sense , if there is some kind of code installed that signifies the post as PPP. In relationship to content, it's really not an honest review, it's a paid endorsement, which is just a big advertisement turned into a blog post. I can see how the content would carry less weight...but then again, how is it different from private advertising..which I do on my blog, and that usually comes with a review or press release as well ? I don't use PPP...just doesn't seem like enough money. I certainly wouldn't take such low rates for a small ad block, let alone for an endorsement, but I guess it would depend on the goal of your blog. I think people read my blog to get information and my honest opinion....I think if I started taking money for my opinion, it would lessen my credibility. I have never seen an concrete proof of PR dropping because of it, but I have heard it enough times.
yes it is real.... pay per posts will destroy your page rank. This is done by google... don't know why these guys have problem with it.
You are fine as long as you don't post saying that its a paid review.....Google has no way of know unless you specify that its a paid review...
