Ughh. It's not worth corrupting my sites with noise! I understand that there will be 30 second ads too? Too much imho.
Correct me if I am wrong, but since most people don't click on ads, wouldn't logic dictate that they would ESPECIALLY not click on a sound ad??? I would think that the tried and true text ads with a nice pic next to it would pull in more clicks, so why waste space with a less-performing ad when better ads can perform better??? I don't know. I'm just asking. What kind of ads do they have?
I have answered you here, hope this helps http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?p=6094512#post6094512
I'm considering adding the Pay Per Play thing, but I'm worried about reader consent and overall look and stuff. Thoughts?
Absolutely NO! This is the next Agloco scam. And if it's not - it doeasn't pay to piss your visitors off for a few cents! It makes me very angry when in 03:30 am I visit a website and from my speakers comes something horrible coz I forgot to turn off the sound! Just imagine this or similar happening to every single visitor you have! It's a sure way to make your new/returning visitors ratio n/0.
The new stats page is looking good, they have indexed all the sites under mine How Does Pay-Per-Play Work? PPP audio ads play as soon as a visitor arrives on a web page where the PPP code is inserted. The audio advertisement is only heard and not seen and requires no action from a website visitor. One of the main benefits of running PPP ads on your website is the fact that you never send visitors away from your site. This allows you the opportunity to continue to earn from your visitors. PPP audio ads play automatically for 5 seconds so website owners need to choose specific pages of their website where it is appropriate for their visitors to hear a single 5 second audio advertisement. You should be aware that PPP audio ads are not appropriate for all web pages. It is up to the website owner where they will place audio ads.
But its a fact that a majority of people do not surf with their sound on. I believe the number is somewhere around 60%. Its only a 5 second spot. On top of all that its free, I figured I'll try it, if it doesnt produce then I'll remove it and I'm out nothing. But I'm only going to pilot it on one or two of my sites first. Just my 2 cents.
I'm with Wolf - I find the idea offensive. Up to you though... if you don't get many return visitors, I suppose it wont really matter one way or the other - but if you want to build up a fanbase, don't even think about it.
Oh, and to the above poster - no offense, but what the hell kind of pitch is '60% of users surf with their sound off'???
Its not a pitch, its a fact. Most users surf with their sound off. If you want I'll dig the number and source up. You get paid regardless of whether or not the sound is on and ad is heard. Much like television or radio ads, a lot of people mute, change channels, or get up to do things during commercials (which is why youll notice a lot of ads have a higher volume level to be heard from a farther distance) but for those who do sit through and watch the commercials is who they are meant for and why companies pay money for ad spots. PPP is NOT for everyone or every site. Just like adsense is not for everyone and every site. Its something new and for for me costs absolutely nothing to try out which I will on a limited basis on a couple sites. If I find it to be an interuption to my numbers and proves to be detrimental to my visitors and stats I'll remove it. I don't rely on my online income for work, its just something for me to do on the side and keep me busy the few days it's not nice to go outside in Florida. But if it works, then great. Again just my opinion.
emoney, don't get me wrong - I'm not calling you a liar. My point is, how long can a business that's automatically locked out of 60% of potential sales survive if it pays advertisers per impression?
Most businesses kick off with 0%..... So gaining 40% from start is not bad, and a great way to get your message out, I would say it’s a question of your glass being half full or half empty, I do believe in pay per play, to me the concept makes sense, E.G If I was looking at say a health website on hay fever, and boots the chemist played an ad saying “Get all your allergy pills from boots buy one get one free range†Why would that offend me? Would that not be helping me out? Of course there is different ways to look at this, and I respect everyone’s opinion, but as an old Irish guy once said to me, “Don’t Knock It Till Yer Try Itâ€
