Good day folks, I am starting a pay per lead program from scratch. No prior experience. I was wondering if anyone know the best way (or at the standard industry practice) on how to avoid payment to duplicate leads? Do the software track by IP or by name/address or cookie? Any insights is appreciated.
It depends on what information you're collecting. Cookies are unreliable. AOL users can have a different IP with every request. If you're collecting physical addresses then you should compare addresses with ones in the db already. People also tend to be consistant on what e-mail address they use. Same with phone numbers. If the person submits their information twice then you may want to sell it twice. So you just have to pay attention to who got what already so the same buyer doesn't get the same person's information. Ultimatly you're going to need to have a return policy because no matter what you do, dupes (and bad leads) will get through your system.
