I have used contextweb.com they were pretty decent and you can certainly barter your way up to $1-1.5 per thousand impressions if you have good converting traffic. You see it's not always about the volume if you traffic demographic fits a particular advertiser they will select your site and pay a premium to be on your site. Look at it from the advertisers perspective when you are building your sites the more targetted your site is the more likely you will get higher paying advertisers. With context web you can set the barr as to how much you would like rather than just accepting what the network gives you. It's kind of like a bidding system between site owner and the advertisers.
