Pay Per Click Advertising for a Community Events Website?

    I am in the process of stetting up a website for local child events/play groups/days out. I am trying to decide how to fund it and I am not sure if I should try pay per click advertising or try to get local businesses to put ads in as I have a very specific target audience. Any suggestions or things I might want to consider in making this decision. Could I do both?
