Pay per action marketing - your experience?

We are experimenting with pay per action marketing on focused credit related sites.

This refers to alternative method of partnership where the partner is paid not per sale but per a specified action, such as click, filling out a form or sales lead. This removes some risk from publishers since they do not have to sell just provide a qualified lead but compromises on revenue.

Anyone has experience working with such offers? Who do you work with? What is your experience like? What are the "best-in-class" practices? How does it compare to affiliate marketing in terms of revenue?

Well, to clarify -- anyone is interested in working on these terms?
