Whenever I try new niches, I notice that average CPC is much higher the first day. And then it gradually goes down to a certain point. I think Google has it set up this way.
For me the first day of every month is usually great, giving false hope, then it goes down the pooper again on day two
Is Google trying to make publishers "happy" or "satisfied" at the initial stage? or what really is the reason behind this?
I don't think it's the case. There might be technical reasons for that. I'm sure that their algo doesn't work "show highest bid ads" all the time, they try to water it down with lower paying ads. Otherwise the daily budget that so many advertisers set would be gone in a few hours.
I also found this to be the case. You do initially get some hefty clicks but they soon come down. I wonder why this would be the case.
Maybe they are showing better paying ads at the beginning, so this advertisers will take your most interested visitors, and therefore the best traffic and conversions, and then, they will show less paying ads, because your visitors aren't interested anymore, they have been taken by the first advertisers, so your traffic will not convert so good any more. I think is a ligic in that.
i guess it all depends on what your website is about as i didnt fine this to be the case for my website.
