Simple rule; If he got more itrade then you then trust him, if U got more itrade ask for the payment in advance But incase Project/amount is big its always good to have some payment in Advance
50/50 sounds good for both parties and like one DP guy said if thier not willing to pay half upfront thier probably the wrong clients. And its not bad asking for an advance, try it with your next job offer see how you get on and let us know =)
Maybe ill try out the 50/50 if taking jobs on line, I don't mind if face to face on credit but you cant take chances online. Paypal can be so easily used to a buyers advantage these days
I tend to do this based on experience. If the person has a reputation on the site I offer the work before pay. If they don't have credentials then I do the work, send a sample, and send the rest when payment is received. This gives us both a little bit of security, so that one isn't compromising over the other.
I always require a deposit usually at least 10% of final price. This way you do not get completely stiffed on the money....if anyone needs assistance resolving credit problems please see my friend at www.confidentialcreditsolutions.com as he has helped several resolve credit inaccuracies
Hello Dan, A 50% upfront and 50% after seems to work well for me. I try to do that arrangement if I am the Buyer or Seller for services. 1) What about using an escrow account and then getting paid after delivery. 2) Dealing with past clients of referrals works for me. 3) Just compute a small % for business loss in each $100 you that you handle and add that few % to all of your bids to cover same. All the Best
well fi we have good ITrader then we can go for 50 % upforn tpayment then remaining after finishing of the work... I hopw this could help in avoiding spamming by buyers. Even I was spammed $200 I got the work done but he didn't paid me....
I prefer both actually but usually here in DP they require to work first before paying which is ok with me as long as they are indeed paying. The problem sometimes are non payers of the services rendered so I guess you can either meet halfway like 50% before and 50% after payment
As for me, I work first before I get paid.. One of my buyers was paying me through Paypal and he never defaulted in any payment.. I guess you should build trust with your buyers so that you will be assured of getting paid.. As for the other buyers, there's this billing system being done by Odesk.. Your work hours would be monitored and every week it would be billed to the buyer.. That makes payment secured for me..
A minimum of 15% upfront for me. The only time I made exceptions was when I was trying to get my itrader started here at DP. Even then though, I would show them partial of the work at completion and they would have to pay before they ever got the completed project in their hands.
I normally do the work first as a seller. As a buyer, i ask the seller to complete the work then only i pay The reason is buyer will not consider to take the risk unless you have high reputation
