I have 1 a travel nitch site. Three months ago I started using Adwords to promote my adsence site, I only used Adbrite prior to that, I spent about $2000 on Adwords and earned about $8000 with adsence.. but I was new to adwords and did not know to filter out International traffic traffic and I got killed by smart pricing on Adsence...I have just been paid the $8000 :). I have recovered from smart pricing and have a stable eCPM after 3 weeks of testing and trying. I am now filtering out the adwords Asian and African traffic and my profit margin has dropped but is still good.. this month so far I have spent $500 to earn $900 in 7 days.

Be aware such high returns aren't the norm. Using adwords to make money with Adsense is called adsense-arbitrage and it doesnt work for 99% of people who try it. The reason why is becasue the ads often aren't targeted properly and the wide spectrum of bidding (for example a high paying keyword like 'injury lawyer' can still pay .02-.2/click).

its only expensive if you don't make profit, at present im making a profit, the key is to bid low and utilise high paying adsense - seems to work for me.

This is a strategy that works but you have to be careful and monitor your ad spending vs revenues. Also, you need to have enough cash flow since you don't get paid until the following month whereas your credit card bill may be due before that.

Another tip is to filter out spammy MFA sites from showing their ads on your AdSense site. You can do that by going into your AdSense account and under "AdSense Setup" click on "Competitive Ad Filter". You can enter the URLs of sites you want to filter out. How to find these spammy MFA sites? Check your favorite search term on Google and note the ads that show up. Go to some of those sites and you'll see if they're legit or not.

    Hi necromanc,

I think you can have an idea with this simple list:
    "http://www.vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/top-paying-words.htm" (is not my site)

I'm agree with most of the comments, and I don't want to rewrite the same but there are two important things with this:

    1. Monitor your campaigns
    2. TEST!!

Adwords is not the only PPC, for sure is the best with yahoo if you want to sell products, but try to test different PPC like goClick, I have some very good result using goclick with yahoo ads (tip : try with "life insurance")

Well I'm new here and I don't want to post my url in this message, but I'm launching an ebook about this topic, if you want more details about it, PM me :)

Has anyone doing pure arbitrage been banned? I was always worried about spending thousands on adwords ... making a few thousand more in adsenese, then getting your account disabled before you get paid, and losing the thousands you spent.

I'm sure if you let AdSense know what's up, they'll take it all into consideration.

There is no way to judt 'solve it'. You can try to filter out low paying ads but then you may run out of targeted ads. I recommned not using adsense arbitade in the first plac.e The concept sounds good in theory but not in practive for most people.

Try it, usually adwords will suspend the ads when you bid 0.01 unless its a really obscure (or a great find).

Arbitrage is an interesting concept but looks risky, gotta know your onions and test allot.
