Paused Campaigns Reactivated without My Consent

My AdWord campaigns were not paying off, so I paused them several months ago.

Now I have received notice that my campaigns were active in November and part of December 2009 and I have been charged for the clicks.

I did not authorize Google to re-activate my campaigns, but I cannot reach them to discuss it. My emails are answered with boilerplate forms, and their phone number simply refers one back to the Website.

Has anyone had success reaching a live person at AdWords?

Has anyone else had their account abused in this way?

My intention is to completely cancel my account, but first I want to have someone to complain to!

Google does not pause or unpause campaigns. You are in control.

Therefore, if you have not done this yourself, the only explanation I have is that you have someone that has access to your account. Have you ever hired an account manager? I would suggest changing your password immediately and check for any accounts linked to yours and remove their access. Also check for any campaigns and groups which do not look familiar to you. If someone else has access to your account, you may be unwittingly giving them advertising on your dime.

I concur with Lucid - I've ran lots of accounts with lots and lots of Campaigns / Ad Groups and I've never seen this happen - so I'm 99.99% this couldn't happen to you automatically. Check out your account and the history - see when it was started up again - also check the destination URLs of any ads - make sure you weren't hacked and your account used for someone else's benefit

I also have this problem I paused my adwords for four days a week to cut down on spending and I would notice a few clicks in my webstats that was through an adwords click...I would then went to my adwords account and checked my keywords and found that some of my keywords had been reactivated.......and it did happen more than once....

I am still waiting to hear from Google customer support on this ....but due to the number of complaints and class action lawsuits filled against adwords for various practices I believe this will be the next big problem ...this is just my opinion...but to all do a search on lawsuits filled against adwords and form your own opinion.................................

I am a wedding photographer and was doing a search for other complaints online and stumbled across this forum and message.......so I thought I would share.......
