Past Consideration

-Person A is stranded in a storm
-Person B harbors person A until storm is over and provides food and shelter
-B happens to be in need of funds
-Person C, A's Mother, is appreciative and offers $500 to B
    -B accepts
-C and A quarrel and C now refuses to pay B

    Can B hold C liable?

isn't this an issue of consideration for a past event and therefore unenforceable?
