Password Security

    This is a simple security tip to make sure that all member and staff account secure. Keep in mind that your password should be at least 20 characters long. The following sites are helpful in creating a secure account:

    That's just a tip to make sure your account is as secure as possible. I use both of those sites to generate my passwords. I have never had an account compromised yet. Not a requirement or anything, just a tip.

    Your supposed to be typing in a password, not writing a book. Most people do good to remember a password that 6 - 10 characters, much less 20 characters.

    Having a 6 character password that has a symbol, upper and lower case is a better password then 20 characters of 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10,,,,,,, 20.

    Agree. passwords should have upper and lower case with symbols, not just numbers and letters. that would be difficult to guess.

    If the people at microsoft could make a buck doing it, they probably would.

    Several years ago - 7, 8 or 9 years back - microsoft was accused of selling hotmail email addresses. I dont know if the people at microsoft ever admitted to it, but there were a lot of writeups in magazines and blog post about it.

    Then there was the XP home and XP professional scam - where XP home can not join a domain / active directory. Go back and look at some of the news articles after windows XP was released, there were a lot of mad people. Parents were buying their kids an XP home edition laptop from wal-mart or best buy, only to find out that they laptop could not connect to the college network. So they had to buy an XP professional upgrade.
