Partnership linkling is bad?

    Hello,

Let's suppose you have a site with 100 pages. You make a partnership with a friend, who has a site with 100 pages. You put a link to him on every page and he does the same for you. This would be massive reciprocal linking. Is it bad? Can it bring something good for Google rankings or only bad?

They might think it is a link farm. You can trade links but use a different one on each page for better results.

It will be good for both.
You will be havin links to your homepage from 100 pages and that counts in backlinks.

You're just talking about "sitewide" links... There are some that would argue that too many links, too quickly is bad... And also that a small number of high quality links are better for search engine results... But I don't think anyone really knows for sure...

Ask yourself what a potential buyer who is most probably well versed in SEO practices is going to think. Will they see your directory as a long term proposition or just another desperate case trying to pretend they are something they are not?

The answer is simple. Dont do anything thats dumb and not necessary.

Sorry a bit one track minded and in the wrong forum but the same still applies. I dont think this would carry weight through to your serps but I have never tried. What are you hoping to achieve besides drawing attention to yourself?

I was thinking how to get more links. The classic way of contacting people, ... takes too much and you get few links. Maybe someone will tell me how people here come up with 1k links / week, ... or other SF figures.

Don't know how Google sees it, but it is pretty common for some sites to have a blog roll or equivalent - a set of links to related sites that appears on every page in their site. That makes sense for the user experience, and it is natural that such sites would link to each other.

I'm guessing that related sites that link to each other are treated different than unrelated sites that do the same.

1K links per week? Could be something that goes 'viral' or gets naturally popular. But lots of the sites that get so many links are not getting quality links. Automated link exchanges, directories that no one uses, paid links, maybe it helps (for now), but I would rather work on content and a few relevant links.

I am just trying to increase my SERPS. Nothing more. I get links but I am not fast enough. I though if I link with a related site, sitewide linking, I might succeed increasing SERPS.

i would do it if it is completely relevant with your site and also brings in traffic.. I would not do it for just PR and such...thats old school imo

Dont even think about it. If you want to improve your serp's you are going to have to work on the anchor text in the links you get. Thousands of arbitrary links are not going to help. Rather start with the free directories and build your links month by month. Try to get smart and you will most likely end up shooting yourself in the foot.

SEO is focused on 2 components. Onpage and offpage optimization.

Onpage optimization is what your content, meta tags, keyword density and etc.

Tip is to use unique content with the right keyword density.

Offpage optimization is crucial if you want to rank high.

It is not the number of backlinks you have, but the quality of backlinks.

Concentrate on getting high PR backlinks and links from authority sites but do so gradually so that it does not seem automated and you should improve your PR and search engine ranking in no time.

    :)

Rather stick to the free directories. Most of the directories with so called authority status are falling out of the tree one after another. Same with the high PR sites Google is fingering for scamming.

PR has no influence on serp's. Its possible the factors that are supposed to influence PR might have some effect but its so slight even the "experts" cant agree. Besides that mostly good advice.

    Hi,

The Google search algorithm is a mystery to most. At times for keywords that are not too competitive, onpage optimization itself is sufficient to rank, but for keywords that are slightly more popular, good old backlinks from authority sites do matter to rank your web pages. PR still matters though like what you may suggest, the importance placed is going through some adjustments.

I agree that free directories is a great way to pump up your rankings. But there are of course other means to get quality backlinks such as article directories, so on.

One-way quality backlinks are one big factor in SEO.
