Is there a way to find out how much pPR the particular back link gives you as a proportion of total PR? If this cant be done, I assume when you make a search on google for link:domain the results are sorted in order of PR they pass on to my website? Obviously not all of them will be shown. Basically what im trying to find out is how effective forum/forum signature back links are. I have seen a number of articles and various experiments such as this one http://www.internet-search-engines-faq.com/forum-signature-links-pr-serps.shtml saying its completely useless. From my own experience I think it works a treat. Thanks!
You can browse to that page manually, and then : 1. Check the PR of the page. 2. Count the OBLs with this tool : http://www.seochat.com/seo-tools/site-link-analyzer 3. Then calculate the PR transfer to a single link, based on the PR of the Page, and the number of OBL's, generally speaking. I use to have a tool for this calculation, but i lost the bookmark. 4. Alternativly, you could use these tools, to get a general ideea : http://www.webmaster-toolkit.com/link-appeal.shtml http://www.thinkbling.com/prcalc/index.php
Oh right, thanks! Some nice tools there. I afraid it will take ages to do it manually. I might experimant on the new domain but then again il have the sandbox problem.
for your PR, signatures could be useless(not completely but almost), but they still carry some anchor text which matter in serp
Yea, i know. Its just i think people underestimate it. Its about getting links from different domains. Obviously if you make 10.000 posts here it will not be as good as making one post on 10k other forums. Its only theory however.
