To try to get people to participate in my SEO focused social news site (like Digg, but for SEO stories only), I have decided to have a contest. If you sign up and participate at SEOYak.com, you can win a free link on the front page of AdMoolah.com. The more you participate, the better chance you have of winning. See all the contest details.

uch I have no Idea how it can be useful for the site if it is totally not relevant to any of the sites, unless it would be about google adwords...

Well, like our friend has mentioned.. the off topic link ain't the motivator - but I am interested at least in the concept... running light on members R U?

Suppose the question is; what are U doing for traffic other than forums?

It can't hurt to sign up I suppose... keep an eye on ya!

Well, AdMoolah is about AdSense and Webmaster issues in general. SEOyak is for people interested in SEO, so I figured that many people interested in SEOyak would be interested in getting a link on AdMoolah. They're kind of related.

I started the site less than a month ago, so I am definitely in member building mode right now.

Besides forums I am also leaving comments on related blogs, putting links on my own websites, submitting stories to other, related social news sites.

I have found that there are three steps here:
    1) Getting traffic to the site
    2) Getting people to register
    3) Getting people to participate

Each step is much harder than the previous one. Most people who visit the site don't register, most people who register don't participate at a significant level. I'm trying to learn how to get more people to step 3.

I might be interested just for the sake of trying it out, not for the link as it not relevant for none of my interests. Keep in touch.

Well... I signed up and submitted a couple stories... see how it goes... fun idea if it works... I am the top 2 news ones (right hand side..hard to find).. on the TBPR and Duplicate content..

The NEWEST articles aren't that prominent though... I'd like to be able to see the 'Newest posts' when I get there... if not, it will be the same POPULAR posts over and over... I like my news FRESH

I would suggest either posting BOTH the latest and popular on hte front page... or at very least make a prominent link to the latest stories

News is all about FRESH... no matter how popular a stories is.. I doubt I am reading it 2-3 times... just once for me please...

And from a contributor standpoint.. you feel like your story just got buried in the pile ...

    Just my thoughts so far

The idea behind social news site is that the stories on the front page are a the stories that are fresh AND popular. Stories don't get to the front page until they pass a certain number votes and they are new enough. Right now on SEOyak.com, it doesn't take many votes to get to the front page since it doesn't have that many users yet (I just voted for one of your stories, so it is on the front page.) Stories that are old fall further down the front page as time goes on, and eventually fall off completely. So as more people participate in the site the front page news will be fresher.

This means that only fresh news that has been vetted by the community gets to the front page. The front page is full of the news people think is somehow important or interesting.

I do agree with you that the "unpublished" stories are pretty hidden on the site right now. I'll try and make the links to that section a little more prominent so people will find it easier.

    Thanks for you input!

Yeah... if the application supports it, try for 2 previews... the ones you have now and then Latest/Newest below it maybe

Point is, that not as an author, but as a user and a SEO guy.. I don't necessarily want to read what I have already seen.... I am looking for the LATEST news...

A combination of both would be good, at very least as U said, make it more prominent... and 'Unpublished' may not be the term.. 'Latest Submissions' 'Latest Stories' might be a better way yo go...

I am with ya (for now) though.. see how it goes.. folks have supported my book and other endeavors.. gotta give back to the community
    :D
