Paranoid about changing the AdSense code ?

Anytime I want to change the AdSense colors I almost never go back to the AdSense page and regenerate the code again. I think I've commented on this before and some have been under the impression that this violates the TOS, I`ll get banned, you'll get banned, your mother will get banned for doing this.

Well recently I emailed google to ask them a few questions, including if it was OK to simply replace the color codes myself...

    Here is Googles reply :

" I[FONT=arial, geneva]n addition, if you want to change the colors of your AdSense layout, we
recommend that you go into your account and generate the code again to
ensure that you don't accidentally modify the code."

Obviously google doesn't consider the color codes part of the adsense code; modify at will.

Only because Google wouldn't know if you changed the code and you did it correctly.

Well... you`ll notice adsense always generated the color codes in upper case, so if you enter a lower case color code they'd know it wasn't generated by them.

My main point is AdSense is OK with you changing *some* of the code by hand, which goes again the common notion here that if you change even one little thing you risk being ban by google - simply not true.

Yup, that rule is just in place so someone doesn't break the code and then Google get in trouble for it and they lose their reputation.
