    Yes I do want to do this manually.

    You mean that the previous ?tag will be replaced by the original URL/tag automatically if I ignore tag in Parameters right ?

    yes, google is pretty intelligent :) they'll update your new tags and remove the old structure automatically if you let them handle this.
    a couple of years back i had the same problem with one of my websites, not exactly the same but close to yours.
    I was using query strings in URLs and when i used URL Re-writing i came up with thousands of duplicate content URLs. I couldnt find a solution to it (Google parameters were not introduced then) so i let that go and google itself decided that there are some new URLs that are to be replaced with old ones.
    In your case, when parameters are here now, just ignore '?tag' and it'll replace them with new URL structure.

    Well.

    There are pre-created parameters. Maybe Google had detected them automatically.

    This screenshot shows what kind of structure I have,

    Parameters.jpg

    Now as you can see the already created parameter by Google is "tag" not "?tag=id " or something. So I have ignored this but I am not sure if "tag" parameter will also be removed from my new URL's like mixupdate.com/tag/anything . Because the syntax looks same . So does this ignores only "?tag" or "both" . You can also see the "p" removed for old permalinks which appeared like "?p=id" . So google has a simple P for it. Similarly for ?tag=id, Google also has a simple tag for it. Maybe that's the syntax of it. But I am not sure if this would also cause the new structure tag be removed.

    use '?tag' for ignoring. add a '?' and you are done.

    Ok.

    So If Google have to do what they like so,

    I don't think waiting for content to be automatically removed or manually removing it from Webmaster tools doesn't make a difference ? Since in both cases, Google has to do it and they aren't doing it .

    I don't think Google will penalise the same post even if they are with different urls

    You have done what you can do on your part. You need to understand Google, one way or other, they would have updated your website by themselves but the time they are taking now would be much shorter than the time they would have taken if you haven't done this.
    So, now i would recommend you to get some fresh and regular backlinks (easiest way is dofollow social bookmarking) so that whenever google spider gets to a page that contains your website's link, it'll crawl your website again and update its index according to the suggestions that you have provided in webmaster central.

    Hey.

    I've been waiting for Google to consider the removals through this way but it looks the Duplicate pages instead of decreasing have increased. From 500 I've reached 1500 . The ?tag and ?p is still being indexed by Google although it's 301 redirected and also disabled through Google parameters. A new addition which increased the Duplicate number is,

    /wp-trackback.php?p=520

    I want to know what this "trackback" thing is and How to disable it ?
    Is it useful or safe to disable ?
    Since it has the ?p parameter in it, Can I consider Google for already removing it ?

    Waiting for helpful replies. I'm seriously fed up of Google. How can the No.1 search engine take so much time.

    I would have never changed structure of permalinks to custom if I knew this was coming.

    I thought of another way of speeding up the process.

    I've basically tried up these things up til now :

    -> 301 Redirected the old links to new ones ( Yet Google considers new and old as duplicate ) .
    -> Manually added parameters of old links to get them ignored ( Yet links are still in Google index ) .

    Hence, even after trying this, Google keeps up increasing my Duplicate pages although they are 301 redirected whenever Google scans . I can manually remove those pages from Google index but the removal requirements must be :

    -> 404 Error ( Not possible due to 301 redirection ) .
    -> No index tag ( Not possible since the pages are redirected to new links ) .
    -> Robots.txt ( Probably the one thing possible ) .

    So what do you guys say about Robots.txt, Should I add them all to robots.txt so they can not be Scanned by Google. Also, I usually like to keep my Robots.txt clean. So once I have added links to robots.txt, got them removed through URL Removal in Google, Can I clean-up my Robots.txt since the content is already 301 redirected ?

    What do you guys say about my new idea ? And what command is there to disallow specific parameters from Google like Mixupdate.com?p=1234 ?
