Hi I have been watching this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nE3cr9kZJrg#! and am shocked by what I have to acheive with my website. Gone are the days of content SEO. It is all about bounce rate, how long a user stays on your site, how many pages they view and how many people Share, Like etc. Now I can see why the big brand names are suddenly listing so well in my sector. Oh Joy : (
SEO is always going to be challenging. Google knows that by changing their patterns they can avoid excessive spamming and improve results. The fundamentals of SEO still work though.
But the interesting thing is blogs with similar issues are not fully affected by panda. I'm not sure about the criteria they have been using, but still some basics like duplication, backlink spamming are included
It's always hard to figure their criteria but you are right with duplication and backlink spamming even some very reputable sites have been affected because of these traits.
There's no thing to be scarried of due to the google panda new algorithm. I think, just do the best of seo efforts and that would be fruitful on next update. Good luck
The Panda update is by far the best Google Update so far. They have removed all the sites using dupe content. In my opinion that is good and it has blocked all the content farmers. There is nothing scary in it, just work on getting good quality content and you should be fine.
i wish the serps would stop bouncing. .i can be on page 1 one day and page 5 the next day. it does it constantly!.. its killing me!
Even tho that would slightly make sense, the part doesn't make sense to me is that they will use metrics.... (like google analytics as in the video is being presented). There are millions upon billions of websites (and website owners) that have never heard of GA...so they don't even have installed it. Does that mean "those sites don't deserve to rank since they don't use our product and we cannot grab the data for their site" ?!
So, basically what a lot of you are saying is that your scared because now you will have to actually put in effort with your websites!
Google changes its algorithm often and we are usually facing the need to bring new methods for optimizing. It is not that bad, actually. The SEO industry needs progressive improvement.
I have never taken short cuts and always worked hard on my website SEO. However, I can't see how small independents can compete with the large companies if Google is looking at traffic, social network likes and reviews. I see the results swaying more and more towards brand names. A few years ago we had a more level playing field on the SERPs. This is not the case now.
By the way, the presentation says Google will penalize for multi footer links. I thought LacyGirl might find this interesting!
The rules for dealing with Panda are the rules Google wants us to live by, that is quality and unique content
And google is God of the internet. On the first day there was Apollo(mozilla & aol) who created the world, Zeus(google) his son has however risen and we shall all abide by his will.
