The U.S. Ambassador in Islamabad, Anne W. Patterson faced embarrassment on Wednesday when a Pakistani student refused to receive award from her as a protest over recent U.S air strike in the country's tribal region.

At least 11 Pakistani soldiers were killed and several others injured when U.S missile hit a check post in the Mohmand tribal region last week.

It was Annual Student Recognition Day of Roots College International at the National Art Gallery.

Samad Khurrum, a school student, did not receive award at the hand of the U.S envoy who was chief guest at a function, participants at the function said.

TV channels also reported the news.

The student of a private school was quoted by the TV channels as saying that he will not receive the award from the U.S ambassador to protest over deaths of Pakistanis in the U.S air strike.

The student also did not shake hands with the American envoy and left the stage.

"I cannot receive award from the U.S ambassador after the attack," the student said, according to TV channels.

Refusal of the student caused embarrassment for the American ambassador, who said that the air strike was unfortunate and that both governments are investigating the incident.

The attack had invoked strong condemnation in Pakistan from the Prime Minister, Foreign Office, political parties and the parliament.

U.S officials had defended the attack, saying that there was attack on the U.S forces from the Pakistani side.

OK a student protested, I guess we should just forget about trying to fight international terrorist rings because we killed a few civilians accidentally. Even though not fighting them and not taking the chance of killing innocents would probably actually increase the death toll world-wide.

I do respect this student and for me, he is a hero, but I am just afraid about consequences he can front with when he back into school.

who the hell does the american ambassador think she is? the red cross? for gods sake her country unloads 10.000s of bombs on civilians and she puts students in danger by giving them "US awards"? he probably declined the "award" because he was afraid + disgusted + insulted
