Is there a paid version of WP? What is the difference? I googled and did not find this answer. I mean the WP that you download and install on your server, not a WP.org blog.
It IS the wp.org version. That one is free too. It's open source. I've built at least 4 websites with it so far. What it looks like as a finished site is all a matter of design.
There are only 3 Wordpress'. 1. Wordpress.com - The free hosted blogging platform 2. Wordpress.org - Self Hosted Wordpress blogging softwre 3. Wordpress MU - Multi user Wordpress Publishing They are all available for free.
Um, to sum this up. No. There is no official paid version of wordpress. Someone might be selling you plugins (which i do), or wp installs that have plugins already in the tree (but i've never seen this).
Yup, I haven't heard of this either. I've been using WP for a long time now and haven't paid for anything yet. I've paid for server and domain, but not the installs and plugin for WP itself.
Wordpress.com offers some premium features if you write blogs on the wordpress.com domain. Wordpress.org is free to download and use on your own domain.
yes wordpress is free as long as you install your own wordpress or you host your blog with worpress.com. But if you hold your wordpress blog with wordpress.com free, then your domain name will look like yourdomain.wordpress.com. If you want to have your own domain name but you still want to host in wordpress.com then they will charge you and also you get access to more storage and things like video press etc. if you host your site in another hosting company (so your own domain name) then simply download/install free wordpress.
