Paid someone to write articles and submit to article sites, but...

Hired someone off of a freelancer site to write two articles with my keywords and domain name and then submit to a number of article sites.

They just completed the project and gave me the list of article sites they submitted to.

    The articles were surprisingly well-written.

However it's these article sites that I am worried about. Some of them don't even appear in Google. Even if you search for the domain name of the site itself. What is the story with that? Does it mean they're are banned? And others don't have that many results in Google. For instance, you will do a search on the article site domain name and maybe two results will come up.

Obviously, the whole point of the this project was to help my site with SEO. Now I am wondering if I may have hurt it.

    Any comments?

hmm..sounds like that was a bit of a fruitless endeavor...Have you thought of manually submitting your URL to directories on the web? You will have great success with this. I don't know how much time you have on your hands...to do it well it takes about 20 hours, but when done well you will see great results.

Check the WHOIS records of these domains - they may be new sites. If they're not new, chances are that they are indeed banned. What is the percentage of them that are not indexed by Google?
