You get more visibility and more chance of being picked up by other news outlets and websites. Just make sure you have something newsworthy to tell everyone.
plog.com is free but it isn't really effective though. i posted my PR article and so far i got 20 visits from them

natural link is the best links now a days google doesn't like paid links and free directory submission is also not very effective. so try gain your natural links
I agree with this. But stil you wanna go for paid links then they are not bas. But you shud take care they shud be relevant to your site & they shud not penalized by Google.
Paid links will not harmful to you, for getting fast results it will help, But when Google caught the link you bought, than Google will stop giving link juice from those links. IMO, Nothing more than this possible.
