Hi, I am a little confused with the concept of paids links & directories. If I was to sell banner ads for my homepages, would that consititute as paid links and/or paid directories? If not, what is the difference between paid links/directories VS paid advertisement banners? Thanks in advance, -DigiP
To be safe, you should add the nofollow attribute to the links Matt Cutts says on his blog: "What if a site wants to buy links purely for visitor click traffic, to build buzz, or to support another site? In that situation, I would use the rel=â€nofollow†attribute. The nofollow tag allows a site to add a link that abstains from being an editorial vote. Using nofollow is a safe way to buy links, because it’s a machine-readable way to specify that a link doesn’t have to be counted as a vote by a search engine."
no, maybe I read your last sentence wrong. I meant to use nofollow for paid text links "what is the difference between paid links/directories VS paid advertisement banners? "
ok, use "nofollow" for paid text links. But I should also use "nofollow" for paid ad banners too, right? Since in a way, a paid banner is a graphical paid link? Thanks in advance for quick response. -DigiP
