I don't believe there is importance given, but it's a lot better to have your own hosting and your own domain when running a site. Especially when a domain is about $10 a year and hosting you can get very cheap, even free if you don't care to have very high quality.

The domain is the big one!!!!

Get a TLD Top Level Domain Ex: .com .net .org - .com is best
Anything else like co.cc or co.nr will get you laughed at

Subdomains rank better than normal domains, so for SEO, free hosting is better. However, the negative aspects outweigh the good.

It is treated the same unless if the website which is free hosting is down. Unlike in paid hosting, free hosting sites always experiencing failure like unable to access the website. Down website can cause low visitor rate.

There is no reason to treat them different. Its just the specs you get from the hosting company make the difference.

Right, it might no difference between these two hostings. But I do think a paid hosting is more reliable than a free one. You might have heard about Google would adopt site speed as a new ranking factor. :)

    Hello umairraja52,

my experience is that it depends on the domain. For example a free subdomain hosting is "unpopular". A separate top-level domain is better. I may be wrong, but it happened to me.

It makes not difference to Google what your hosting is.
For Google it all about content.
You can rank well with Blogger with good content.
Of course with paid hosting you have more options.
E.g if you want to install a wordpress blog and a full set of plugins

You normally get what you pay for, and if you plan to make big money its best to have something you have paid for. You might be sharing a server with someone who will kill the server with a dodgy script or massive amounts of traffic.

both are treated the same if you have your own domain name. if the free hosting places dofollow links on your website then that is the only way i see your site being afftected.

The only issue related to your search ranking I can see with using a free host is if your site is down frequently it could negatively effect your placement(s).

The answer is depend on the how the free host owner manage their site.
If there are too many illegal site hosted at the free host then go0gle will not treat the same.

yes, definitely the web hosting company where your website is hosted does matters a lot. Generally, free web hosting services are ideal for personal websites but if you have a business then opting for a premium website hosting service provider is the right decision. Free website hosting means you have less disk space and bandwidth along with the forced ads of that company on your websites. Nowadays, search engines like Google is much focusing on the location of the server and the web hosting company where your website is hosted. They are using GEO-location to decide the value and search results for that website.

However, for a basic websites free web hosting can do, but if you wish to run a small or a medium sized business, then you should go with a good web hosting company who can understand your business requirements and offers you 24x7x365 tech support for all your server and hosting issues.
