Hi , Im looking to pay for directories which are still working any one who can come up with a good one ? I would really appreciate it .
Paid directories is a bad way to build links for your web site. I have tried, and it didn't change anything at all.
paid directory by itself is not a good SEO strategy. Getting backlinks from niche or established directory as one part of an overal SEO strategy is certainly useful
Search Engine Police at its best. As for the paid directories, there are some good free ones, but require to post a link from your page to theirs. I have one link from a PR3 directory with low obl, but personally I don't think it is having a good effect.
Can then the low quality directories affect your rankings in a negative way and would you suggest removing the link from a one?
Yes, a pattern of links from low quality websites can hurt you and yes it's best to have them removed
There's this misconception about links from directories. They, in themselves, aren't bad. What's bad is many folks submitted to any directory they could find using the same title/link text and descriptions. Suddenly a site would have 1,000 incoming "Denver Car Dealer" links and only a handful of other text links. They made it really easy for Google to identify an unnatural link building scheme and rather than blaming themselves or the SEO firms they hired, they're blaming the people who gave them those links. Paid or free, the issue with directory submission is the quality of the site. If the directory has earned a nice page rank score but your site will be listed on the 10th, 20th or even 50th page of a category - how much SEO benefit do you really think you'll get from that? You certainly can't hope for any traffic and the SEO value of such a link would be worth far less than what you paid.
That's probably because listing in a directory is a TINY part of an overall link strategy, the least of which is the backlink itself. Directories are designed to generate TRAFFIC, not link juice... Once you figure that out, you'll understand why you've come to your conclusion.
Directory submissions is no longer a viable SEO strategy any more. But specific niche directories may be a good option.
This is my experience as well. There are many better areas to focus your time and efforts. Depending on your site/vertical you may gain some traffic from local directories and other local SEO efforts. But in general directories will have little to no positive effect and may cause problems if too many poorly ranked sites point to your own.
