    Hello all.

I was contemplating submitting to some high PR paid directory sites. If I had say a budget of $500 dollars what would you do?

My sites all have around 200-500 backlinks, and all of my competitors are the same. Nobody really has any high PR backlinks either, thats what makes me think this might have more effect for me then other people competing against more backlinks.

    Thanks.

You should try to get backlinks from sites relevant to yours. There are MANY free directories and you can get free one back backlinks from them. Use this money like hiring services for social bookmarking, blog commenting, forum replies etc

I'd take a list of high PR and High traffic directories and then drill to the category where I'd be listed. Then search Google for some of the text on the page. If the category comes up even for a long tail search there is a chance the directory is respected by Google enough that the link juice is going to do you some good. Niche directories will more often come up in the SERPs than general directories so you might want to start with directories in your niche. In addition, you might even get some traffic from the link.

Bottom line, before I spend money on a directory link I want to make sure it will do my site some good in the SERPs.

I would go to elance and hire someone to do it for me. Tell them you want to rank high for whatever keywords or that you want 100+ one way backlinks.

Well depending on your type of site, with a $500 budget, I would buy ad space or links on high PR sites with good traffic using that budget money. If you bring in more traffic than your competitors and establish yourself as a leader, you won't need backlinks as people will ultimately create them for you (by posting a link to your site on a blog or forum in reference to niche of your site). But, if your site is new and upcoming, then submitting to directories would be a good way to begin.

Don't spend $500 on something you can get for free. If you don't have time, hire someone to research and submit your site to relevant industry sites. Write articles and submit them to article directories, start a blog, write killer copy for your website....etc. Then, when you're number one on Google, write an ebook on how "you make $5,000 a month and don't spend a dime".

    - Just kidding about the last part.

If you want to pay for your listings in directories that will be a way to get better exposure. Make sure the sites you list in have relevance to your site.. if you are spending money you may as well spend it on sites that use your keywords and have PR ranking

if you want a llist of free one way link directories then visit my blog post

Backlinks are importand, if you submit to 10-20 PR5+ sites, your PR will be for sure PR5 or more.

May you check my signature for 2 PR5 directories, Arena is also PR5 and atm is the max bid only $5.

I will buy links from other sites that are related with my niche or try to find some web directories in the same niche.

Depends on the directory but generally High pr directories are a good investment. Also DMOZ.
