How are google going to know the links are paid for? They can't and therefore cant hurt these sites.

Well with those programs you can tell? But if you contact someone privately, they can't possibly check your inbox!

Review me is actually require bloggers to disclose that the post is being sponsored.

Man! After discouraging links sell now he's telling us that we're not allowed to get paid by posting?

WTF? Google want to be the only online advertising company, that's for sure.
    They want to be GOD!

You may be able to tell with reviewme because you have to include its sponsored, however the fact he wants "machine readable" ie, the nofollow tag shows that google can't look at text and decide its paid.

I think he is talking about each link takeing some page rank from your blog. That is why he says us no follow tags. I bet that you can not use no follow because people paid for the link to help thier sites page rank .

When you use services like Payperpost, you have to let others know it's a paid post. If this does happen, services like Payperpost will take a big hit from it.

Nowhere does he say that they will harm your search rankings. There's a huge difference between Google ignoring paid links and penalizing a site for them.

If what you said were true, I'd be signing a few select competitors' URLs up for ReviewMe today!

You don't, ive been advertising on payperpost for months and you don't have to include its a paid post. Some bloggers like to anyway, which is why you specify that only bloggers who don't can take your posts.

    From Review Me FAQ :

But after I read the article from the OP, I noticed that Matt Cutts is (again) complaining how this type of ads will help the advertisers to gain a better SERPs.

    Well, I say....

Hey Google, why don't you try to make a better algo?
Why should we all follow your rules just to make sure you're still THE GREAT search engine and that your PageRank idea is the most brilliant idea!

    :p

First of all, like someone said here - how will they know? it's not like they will open investigation in ReviewMe and PPP. If one blogs about new products on the net, Google doesn't really know (and can't know) which is sponsored and whcih is not.

Matt Cutts should calm down a lil`; what's next? Not to have extremal links at all?

Yeah I don't think they will be able to tell if it's paid or not so I don't get why it would hurt you. (Unless you label it "Sponsored Post" or something)

Matt Cutts is going mad. Its thanks to this paid links thingy that lots of people are earning their bread and butter...some are even earning their cakes.

Instead of patting their backs for creating more business and employment, they are making Matt Cutts talk rubbish

Oh great. Another Matt Cutts proclamation. I'm sure that this will spark a huge outcry from people just trying to make some cash blogging. Google should do an official release and explain whether or not what Cutts says carries any weight at all or if he's just stating his opinion.

    Now now,

I don't even know about this guy and already I don't like it. So what if your serp's are bad. People will come to your site if they like it . In fact the more people come to your site, the more google likes you.

The problem for google is that ppp sites are becoming very popular and for us small webmaster's we are making more money from that than google adsence. I for one I'm and even thinking of getting rid of google all together. Why should I waste my time with 10 cts clicks when 1 post gets me 40 bucks? For the past 3 months adsence has only earned me 2% of what my site makes.

As long as you are a good writer , you will get work, the more money you get the more you are able to earn from other revenue resources other than google.

I have personally held up my posting on my site when I realised I earn more from commenting about other things I like, so I could change my earning potential from google to other sources. Guess what, I got a very nice email from google telling me that I need to add more google units to my site. I said heck no. I will stick to what earns me money not what earns google money . No wonder those who deal exclusively with affiliate programmes don't deal with google.

If this guy is right, how come the top sites, eg cnn, yahoo don't care about serp's just content. Content is king and it's that simple. I for one am not about to change because a so called guru thinks that since he's not in the gravy train no else should be. I am here to make money now and I will continue doing what I have to do to earn more.

Google is not your mother or father , it is a big brother operation paying these guys to tell you not to lose them business.
