I'm interested in purchasing some advertising on popular sites within my niche. The problem I am seeing is that a lot of people are being scammed by not recieving any, or many visitors. I have another website that I purchase paid advertising for that I am very happy with but I went with a site I knew was popular whereas this niche is a bit more competitive and the more popular sites are a lot more expensive, therefore I don't really want to try out a "trial and error" attempt. I have already been scammed once now within this niche so i'm trying to avoid that again but I definitely do want to recieve more traffic. What are some good questions or requirements that you have when finding sites to advertise on?
From my point of view, my requirement when I advertise on another site is that my banner to be placed in a prominent place. If your banner is under the fold, most probably it won’t be clicked. You can test some sites in your niche by advertising through Project Wonderful. You will pay about 0-4$/day, depending on how big is a site, you can choose different ad formats and you can choose various places where to put your banner. After a few days you can see where your visitors come from and you can buy directly (eventually) an advertisement place from site owner. Just my 2 cents!
