If you go here and look at the URLs google has indexed, they all have different SEO. Some are optimized - /articles/Designing_and_coding_a_sleek_navigation_with_rollover_effect/ Some are not optimized - /articles/5/ And some are not optimized and use PHP GET in the url - /articles/index.php?Article_ID=1 Some aren't even indexed. They are all from different times over the past couple of months. If you check here - articles - you can see that all of the urls are optimized. Some of the articles haven't been reindexed in over a month and some haven't been indexed at all. How do I request google reindex that directory? I have submitted a sitemap to google webmaster but that doesn't seem to have helped, should I be linking to a sitemap from my homepage?
You should set up 301 redirects from your old URL structures to the new structure - at the moment the old URLs still resolve, and so are unlikely to disappear. This also puts you at risk of a duplicate penalty if the old URLs aren't redirected properly.
If you need to move a page or a whole website, a 301 redirect is always recommended. If you just change a file name or delete a page, you my lose search engine rankings that were associated with the old page. By using a 301 redirect, you tell search engines and humans where to find the new page. Avoid using a meta refresh tag as this is a technique used by search engine spammers to rank well for certain keyphrases that are totally irrelevant from the page redirected to. Many search engines filter out the meta refresh tag, so it is not a search engine friendly option. Regards
Or you could simply try WITHOUT the 'www' and you now have 400 pages indexed http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site:tutorials-db.com U should always 301 old pages to new ones. The old ones will 'go supplemental' and eventually be out of the index in 12 months (unless U do a pae removal job on therm)
