Hi, I am having a problem with one of my sites, my blog, having a very high bounce rate, 80-90% plus, and time on site, especially for search traffic being mostly 0 sec. Specifically for the search term "frappuccino recipe", "how to make a frappuccino" and other similar search terms for this page: http://www.mom-venture.com/frappuccino-recipe-how-to-make-a-frappuccino I get most of my search engine traffic for that page, over 700 visits a month from those search terms alone, but looking at google analytics, people are not even staying to read it. Now my site had been loading kind of slow I had found out, but the last couple days I have improved the load time by making quite a few changes. According to the web site analyzer it is now loading 1.8 seconds for T1 1.44Mbps (previously it was at 8 seconds). But the time on page is still mostly 0 sec. according to Analytics. So I need to know if it is still taking too long to load for other people? Is there anything else I can improve on? If you were searching for a frappuccino recipe, what would cause you to click on the link to my page above, but not stay long enough to read it? Anyway, thanks in advance!
Yep, got the issues fixed I realized it was still loading pretty slow in IE, so was able to figure out some more things and now it loads pretty quickly in IE also. So now to see if it helps visitors to stay longer.....
Try using a CDN (Content Delivery Network). There are many free ones like CloudFlare, CoralCDN, SpeedyMirror etc. May be your webhost provides some sort of CDN service.
It looks like you are using wordpress, try to cache your pages, use plugins like W3 Total Cache, minify all your CSS and javascript codes and finally like gtk29 said, use a CDN service. You can use cloudflare as they are free and they are very good.
Here's a couple of quick things you can do/test: 1. Remove any inactive plugins or themes from your blog. 2. Don't install too many plugins on your blog. While there is no set rule, you probably don't want to have 6-12 running on your blog (some people installed 30 or 40 & then wonder why their site is slowing down). 3. Find out which WordPress plugins are slowing down your blog, if any. 4. Run a test on Pingdom or Webpagetest.org to see which files might be causing issues on your site. The waterfall view can be really helpful at identifying problems. "It looks like you are using wordpress, try to cache your pages, use plugins like W3 Total Cache, minify all your CSS and javascript codes and finally like gtk29 said, use a CDN service. If you do end up using W3TC and CloudFlare, please make sure you don't turn the minify options on at both W3TC and CloudFlare's Auto Minify option (your site will likely see some issues).
I would pretty much recommend the same steps as I mentioned in the previous post. The tips should help you find out what's causing the issues on your site.
Don't install too many plugins on your blog. You can diagnose if a web site is slow.
Make sure your graphics are save as web ones, this way all unnecessary files sizes can be achieved. Helping with download.
Pleased do the following thing to make your site more faster. 1. optimize all your images using punypng.com 2. use CSS and Javascript Compression to make CSS and Javascript file size in minimum 3. Check your site loading time at tootls.[ingdom.com. you will see the problem and also get some recommendation.
