I don't understand why I do a site:xxx.com and there are 6000 pages indexed but when I check the number of pages in the backlink checker it returns 43 pages in the url? I have this type of discrepancy with several sites and I know it has to do with the api, but I don't understand what it is all about.

    Thanks!

The API always (from what I've seen) returns fewer pages. The backlink checker only updates pages in URL when Google updates the backlink count (not that often) you can remove the site and re-add it to get the current pages in URL count

I have a similar situation when checking my site.

Site: has changed (increased) at least 4 times but the API still shows the exact same number it had the first time I checked.

For me it is not a matter of the number of pages changing in the index and not the API - I know I have to delete and readd. The huge discrepancy happened even the first time I tried it.
