First let me start by saying...I am no wiz at getting anything "SEO ish" however I do have a question. I have a information website that is rather large. A few months back I was basically submitting posts to sites such as craigslist and backpage with about 3 links included in the posts. My pages indexed shot up to more then 18,000 in less then 3 months. This information was found by useing the site:my domain.com trick...at the same time my links were less then 10 on both google and yahoo. In the last 90 days however I have seen this number drop by a huge margin. (now I am less then 3000 on the index) While I also at the same time have started to submit articles to directories as well as the whole blogging thing and a light 2.0 campaign.(My links have increased but index is still dropping) So my question (now that the background is out of the way). Should I expect the linking to at some point reflect in my index count???? Does the more links I have out actually get google to crawl my site thus increasing my page crawled numbers??? Help me "SEO Kenobi's" ...your my only hope.....
In some point YES, you must have to point links not only on your Home page... This is what you called Deep Linking strategy, The point is you must have get links to your Important pages not necessarily all pages of your site.
